What is the reason behind Frontdive?
Frontdive is actually a nickname given to me by co-workers at a dive show I worked at. While I was in college during the summer, I performed in a dive show at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky Ohio. Every show was started off with the most basic elementary dive, the front dive straight. Every year I worked there, which was 5 years, I opened the show with the beautiful and graceful front dive straight. So one day, my friend called me Frontdive Franzen and it stuck.
My name is Bryan (Frontdive) Franzen and I have been involved with exercising and diving for more than half of my life. Both have led me down great wonderful roads which have led to many delightful opportunities. I grew up in Phoenix, AZ, which as everyone knows, is hot, really hot, so naturally I was drawn to the pool. My grandparents had a pool with a diving board and I remember playing on that thing for hours a day almost everyday, learning new dives and playing around. From then on I was hooked and continued diving for my high school diving team Sunnyslope High School. I placed 5th in the state championship as a freshman and then I was state runner-up my last three years. My main goals graduating high school were to go away to college and dive for a division 1 college. I achieved both of my goals by accepting a scholarship to the University of Toledo where I dove and majored in Exercise Science. I have my personal trainer certification with American Council of Exercise (ACE). I am also certified in TRX, kickboxing, and Functional Movement Screen (FMS).
I currently live in beautiful sunny Costa Mesa, CA where I personal train at one of the greatest gyms in the OC POWER Fitness. While I am not at work, I enjoy my time with my beautiful wife Jessica, my gorgeous baby Devon, and my two dogs Jack Jack and Boo. I enjoy going for walks, playing basketball, trying to surf, reading and hanging with friends and family.
I have been coaching the dive team at Orange Coast College for the past 7 years. During my career thus far, I have coached 8 state champions, had 6 divers of the year, been coach of the year 3 times and have been a part of 6 state champion teams. I enjoy coaching and watching the divers improve.
