Greg Louganis Practicing

A very rare video of the great one Mr. Greg Louganis going through a typical practice at Mission Viejo.  This video was shot in the year 1984 which is the same year he went on to win his first 2 gold medals in the 3 meter springboard and 10 meter platform respectively.  I think it is really neat to get an insight into how some of the greatest athletes practice.  You can see he takes his practice very seriously, he is very focused and you can almost see him visualizing his dives.  The coolest dive is at the end where he performs a reverse triple somersault off of the 1 meter springboard as a prep.  Prep dives are timer dives that prepare the diver both physically and mentally on a lower board before taking the dive up.  He is prepping for his very difficult reverse 3 1/2 tuck off 3 meter, which at the time, he was one of the few to perform that particular dive.  Greg was such a pioneer in the sport of diving and is mainly responsible for what it has become today.
