Sugarholics

Awww sugar, the grainy white substance which is in basically everything and we just can not live without it or at least we don’t think we can.  Sugar is almost purely responsible for the rise in obesity, heart disease and definitely diabetes.  Think of it as “white death”.  Sure, it tastes great and makes everything taste great but it also so detrimental to your health and highly addictive.

Below is a video from the man Jack La Lanne.  Again, I am so unbelievably impressed on how much he knew and how ahead of the times he was.  He is absolutely right though, in order to look better and feel better you have to eliminate sugar from your diet.

It is a new year and most of you probably have weight loss goals you want to achieve.  It is best if you are as specific as possible when setting your weight loss goals.  How much weight do you want to lose?  When do you want to lose it by?  What are you going to do to get the weight off?  You need to say “I want to lose 10 lbs by June 1st, 2012 by lifting weights twice a week, going for a walk everyday and eliminating sugar from my diet.”

How bad do you want to get the weight off?  How much are you willing to give up?  You have to be able to sacrifice some things you love to get where you want to be.  If you start moving your body, getting adequate sleep, eliminate sugar and follow the power of 1, which means eat only whole, natural unprocessed food, I guarantee you will lose weight.

Interesting fact: 80% of your body weight and body composition is controlled by diet. 80%!!!

There is an old adage we trainers like to use which applies to everyone ” You cant out train a bad diet”.  Meaning no matter how hard, how long or how many times you work out in a week, if your diet is crap you will not lose weight.

Be proactive, open up your pantry and throw out all the processed man made evil sugar containing food you like to enjoy.  Stock it up with fresh fruit, nuts, and jerky and jump start the year off right.
